Importing Census 2000 Geographic ID Data Into Microsoft Access 2007

When attempting to import Census 2000 Geographic ID data into a specified Summary File template using Microsoft Access 2007, the text-based fixed-width geographic ID data file will not import correctly using "automagic" default settings. Information from the data dictionary will have to be supplemented into the import settings to properly import the data.

I will present an example using the Summary File 3 template file.

In Access, open the SF3.mdb template file.

Biodiesel Committee

The Biodiesel Committee of CCURISA is focusing on an alternate fuel which has far-reaching implications for the Washington DC metro region. Using the mapping expertise and web resources of our nonprofit, we hope to jumpstart awareness and availability of biodiesel. The Committee has developed a three stage program. The first stage raises awareness of biodiesel in the community. The second and third stages aim to increase access to the fuel and vehicles that would use biodiesel fuel.

General Guide to DC Area GIS Conferences

Given the number of federal agencies in the region, one would expect to easily find a Geographic Information System (GIS) conference pertinent to one's own specialty. It's not so easy with busy schedules and gridlock bearing down on us. Here is a quick overview of GIS Conferences in the area. Perhaps it will help you get to where you are needed most.
